“In 1968, democracy refused to back down.”

In Chicago, 1968, a protest outside the Democratic National Convention turns into a violent clash with the police. Months later, seven activists are on trial for conspiracy, including Tom Hayden (Eddie Redmayne) and Abbie Hoffman (Sacha Baron Cohen). Aaron Sorkin puts them in front of the irritable Judge Julius Hoffman (Frank Langella), with William Kunstler (Mark Rylance) defending men who cannot agree on how to defend themselves.
