The Trouble with Being Born

Elli (Lena Watson) is an android who wants nothing, because nothing has been installed in her except what Georg (Dominik Warta) chooses to give. She lives with the man she calls her father, and they spend the summer swimming in the pool by day while he programs her to recall memories that are his, not hers. Sandra Wollner holds the two of them in a closed, uneasy household, where his grief and her blankness lean against each other until neither can be told apart.
