The Truth

“Truth is many things — so was the woman on trial for her life!”

Dominique Marceau (Brigitte Bardot) sits in the dock, charged with the murder of Gilbert Tellier (Sami Frey), a young musician she once loved. Clouzot moves between the courtroom and the witnesses' memories, where the prosecutor Guérin (Charles Vanel) and the defense lawyer Éparvier (Paul Meurisse) each build a different woman from the same facts. Everyone in the room has a version of the couple, and none of them quite match.
