The Turning Wind
In a fishing village on the coast of Bahia, the men haul their nets by hand and the whole community lives by the rhythms of Candomblé. Firmino (Antônio Pitanga) comes back from the city educated, convinced the faith keeps his people poor and obedient, and he sets out to turn them against it. Glauber Rocha, in his first feature, shot it on location around Salvador over nearly two years.
