The Tuskegee Airmen
“The right spirit. The right attitude. The wrong color.”
Hannibal Lee (Laurence Fishburne) wants to fly, and in the early 1940s the Army Air Corps opens a program at Tuskegee that will finally train Black men as fighter pilots. Robert Markowitz follows Lee and his fellow cadets, Walter Peoples (Allen Payne) among them, through harassment and the politics of officers who would rather see the program fail. The cadets have to earn their place in combat, and a failure would close the door on every Black pilot after them.
