The Two Mrs. Carrolls

“Never try to deceive two women!”

Geoffrey Carroll (Humphrey Bogart) is a struggling painter who meets Sally (Barbara Stanwyck) on a country holiday and falls into a romance without mentioning the wife he already has. He marries Sally and takes her home to a house where he paints for hours behind a closed door. Peter Godfrey keeps Sally's world small and watchful, and the picture Geoffrey works on is an angel of death.
