The Two of Us

Claude (Alain Cohen), an eight-year-old Jewish boy, is sent to live with an elderly couple in the countryside during the Second World War. His host, Pépé (Michel Simon), is a crusty old man who complains about Jews at the table and has no idea who is sitting across from him. Claude Berri, directing his first film, builds the story around the two of them, a grumbling old man and a boy who keeps his secret and slowly comes to love him.
