The Valiant Ones

In sixteenth-century China, Japanese pirates raid the coast while corrupt officials look the other way. Against them stand a swordfighting husband and wife, Yu Da You (Roy Chiao) and Wu Ji-Yuan (Pai Ying), who take up the defense of the country themselves. King Hu keeps them moving at speed, and the film is as much about the two of them fighting side by side as about the invaders.
