The Very Excellent Mr. Dundee

“He's back, whether he likes it or not.”

Paul Hogan, playing a version of himself, is about to be knighted when his reputation takes a hit he can't ignore. Dean Murphy has him pulled back into the spotlight to clean it up, with Chevy Chase, John Cleese and Olivia Newton-John turning up along the way. Under the gags, it's a film about how a man known for one famous role lives with it, and what he owes the people who still want it.
