The Vigil

“Say your prayers.”

Yakov Ronen (Dave Davis) left his Orthodox Jewish community behind, but Reb Shulem (Menashe Lustig) talks him into one paid night as a shomer, sitting up beside a dead man until morning. Keith Thomas keeps nearly the whole film inside one house, where a malevolent spirit called a Mazzik has taken an interest in whoever is there. Mrs. Litvak (Lynn Cohen), the widow, knows more than she says, and Yakov is the only person left to ask.
