Milan in 1973 is a city of cramped streets and a crime syndicate that nobody seems able to touch. Vice commissario Caneparo (Luc Merenda) goes undercover as a getaway driver for the mob, hoping to avenge the death of his mentor, with Padulo (Richard Conte) somewhere above him in the chain. Sergio Martino builds a one-man war on crime, and the film is plain about it: where the law falls short, a single person decides to act alone.
