The Violin

Soldiers have taken the town and cut the rebels off from the ammunition hidden in a field, so Don Plutarco (Ángel Tavira) walks up to the checkpoint with his violin on his shoulder, saying he only needs to tend his corn. The Capitán (Dagoberto Gama) lets him through, on the condition that he comes back every day to give a music lesson. Francisco Vargas shoots the whole thing in black and white, and the camera stays close on the old man's face.
