The Voice of the Moon

Ivo Salvini (Roberto Benigni) has just been let out of a mental asylum, and he drifts through the Emilia-Romagna countryside listening for voices that seem to rise from the bottom of the wells. He falls in with Gonnella (Paolo Villaggio), a former prefect, and together they stumble onto television commercials, beauty pageants and pagan rituals. Federico Fellini fills the film with the countryside of his own childhood and keeps it all at the pitch of a waking dream.
