The Vultures

(1984)Directed by Henri Verneuil95 minWar, Comedy

In El Ksour, Tunisia, on April 5, 1943, a Foreign Legion battalion sent to guard a shipment of gold bars is cut down by a German ambush until four men remain. Sergeant Augagneur (Jean-Paul Belmondo) wants to keep the gold, while Adjutant Mahuzard (Michel Constantin) wants to see it delivered. Henri Verneuil sends the bars south toward Betahoua with Augagneur and Mahuzard still arguing over them, and the desert stretches empty around two men who cannot agree.
