The Wackiest Ship in the Army

The Pacific war is on, and Lieutenant Rip Crandall (Jack Lemmon) is tricked into commanding a garbage scow full of misfits who don't know a jib from a jigger. Richard Murphy shot it at Pearl Harbor and Kauaʻi, with Ricky Nelson as Tommy Hanson among the crew. Nobody aboard knows the old tub has a top-secret mission in waters patrolled by the Japanese fleet, and Crandall stands at the wheel of the scow as it heads out.
