The Wages of Fear

“‘Dynamic’ ‘Tremendous’ ‘Shattering’”

Four broke European men are stuck in a dusty South American town when an American oil company offers them a job: drive two trucks of nitroglycerin over mountain dirt roads to a burning well. Henri-Georges Clouzot follows Mario (Yves Montand) and Mr. Jo (Charles Vanel) as the journey starts to wear on both of them. Mario came in as the harder man, Jo as the one he looks down on, and every mile together makes it harder to keep that arrangement.
