The Wait
“Waiting for a lost love, every moment becomes an eternity.”
Anna (Juliette Binoche) lives in a large Sicilian villa, and over Easter a young Frenchwoman named Jeanne (Lou de Laâge) turns up at the door. Jeanne says she is the girlfriend of Anna's son, Giuseppe, who invited her to stay, but Giuseppe is not there, and Anna has heard nothing about her. Piero Messina sets the two women in the same quiet rooms, and the film is about how long a person can hold on to a belief when only another person's word supports it.
