The Wakhan Front

A French squad is posted to watch a remote valley in Wakhan, on the Pakistani border, as the troop withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2014 draws near. Captain Antarès Bonassieu (Jérémie Renier) holds the post with his men, until soldiers begin vanishing one dark night and the valley slips out of their control. Clément Cogitore keeps the camera close and the film quiet, so the dread arrives slowly and stays.
