The Way Back

“Their escape was just the beginning.”

In a Siberian gulag during the Second World War, Janusz (Jim Sturgess) slips under the wire with a handful of fellow prisoners, among them the American Mr. Smith (Ed Harris) and the criminal Valka (Colin Farrell). Peter Weir sends them south and then east across five countries, on foot, with no maps and little food. Each step is a bet that they can outwalk the cold and the guards before the distance outlasts them.
