“...bring an umbrella”

David Spritz (Nicolas Cage) reads the forecast on a Chicago morning broadcast, and strangers recognize him well enough to throw fast food at him. His marriage to Noreen (Hope Davis) has ended, and his father Robert (Michael Caine) is a celebrated writer whose approval he has never earned. Gore Verbinski follows David as a national morning-show job comes within reach, and he has to find out whether a better career can fix the rest.
