The Wedding
A family leaves rural Anatolia for Istanbul and carries its old customs into the city. The men have decided to give the girls away in marriage for a hefty bride-price, and Zelha (Hülya Koçyiğit) refuses to accept it, setting out to protect her sisters. Lütfi Akad shoots the family in cramped city rooms, Zelha facing Ferhat (Ahmet Mekin) and Halil (Kamran Usluer) across the grain of the film.
