The Wedding Banquet

“A little deception at the reception.”

In New York, Wai-Tung (Winston Chao) lives comfortably with his boyfriend Simon (Mitchell Lichtenstein), while his parents in Taiwan keep asking when he will marry. His answer is a green-card arrangement with Wei-Wei (May Chin), a woman from mainland China, until Mr. Gao (Lung Sihung) and Mrs. Gao (Gua Ah-leh) fly in to plan the wedding banquet. Ang Lee keeps the comedy close to the family, with the crowded apartment and the shared table doing most of the work.
