The Weeping Meadow

The film opens in the early twentieth century with a family of refugees, and Eleni (Alexandra Aidini) is among them, one of many displaced people searching for a place to belong. Theo Angelopoulos follows her and Alexis (Nikos Poursanidis) through moves, separations and reunions that run up to the Greek Civil War. A homeland, for these characters, is a thing they keep looking for and never get to settle in.
