“THE RAW UNTAMED ADVENTUROUS WEST...LIVES AGAIN!”

Cole Harden (Gary Cooper) is a drifter riding into Vinegaroon, Texas, when he is hauled before Judge Roy Bean (Walter Brennan) on a charge of stealing a horse. The self-appointed judge is ready to hang him, until Cole says he knows the stage star Lillie Langtry, whom Bean adores and has never met. William Wyler keeps Cole lazy and quick-talking, a man spending a made-up friendship while the homesteaders nearby run out of room.
