The Whales of August

Every August, two sisters return to their summer house on the Maine coast, and every August they watch the water for whales that have stopped coming. Sarah Webber (Lillian Gish) keeps the habit going, while her blind sister Libby Strong (Bette Davis) has little patience for hope. Lindsay Anderson gives them one late summer, and each sister has to decide how much of it she can manage alone.
