The Whisperers

In a seedy rented flat in a British town, Mrs Ross (Edith Evans) lives alone, poor and old, and spends her days imagining herself an heiress. Her son and her estranged husband Archie (Eric Portman) drift in and out of her life, and then she finds stolen money hidden by her son, and believes her fantasy has come true. Bryan Forbes films her rooms and her loneliness at close range, with no softening.
