The White Meadows

Rahmat (Hassan Pourshirazi) rows from island to island across a vast salt pan, stopping at each village to collect the tears of the people who live there, for a purpose he doesn't explain. A young boy searching for his father joins him on the boat. Mohammad Rasoulof shot on the salt-crusted shore of Lake Urmia, and the white ground and the tears gathered in Rahmat's small vessel are what the film keeps returning to.
