The Widower

Alberto Nardi (Alberto Sordi), a Roman businessman sure of his own talents, keeps his factory one bad week from ruin and keeps asking his wife for money to cover it. That wife is Elvira Almiraghi (Franca Valeri), a rich, brisk Milan businesswoman who has no patience left for his schemes and no illusions about his head for numbers. Dino Risi plays the marriage as a running comic quarrel over the checkbook, with Sordi talking big and Valeri answering in few words.
