The Wind and the Lion

(1975)Directed by John Milius119 min · PGAction, Adventure, Drama, History
“Between the wind and the lion is the woman. For her, half the world may go to war.”

Mulai Ahmed er Raisuli (Sean Connery), a Berber chieftain in Morocco in the early 1900s, wants the foreign powers out of his country and has a plan to force them. He kidnaps Eden Pedecaris (Candice Bergen), an American widow, and President Theodore Roosevelt (Brian Keith) answers with diplomatic pressure and then warships. John Milius shoots it as a big sun-struck adventure, and the last thing in view is Raisuli, alone and still.
