The Wind Rises

(2013)Directed by Hayao Miyazaki126 min · PG-13Animation, Drama, History, Romance
“We must live.”

A boy in Japan who is too nearsighted to fly keeps dreaming of aircraft anyway, and the dreams carry him into a career as an engineer. Hayao Miyazaki follows Jiro Horikoshi (Hideaki Anno) as he draws the planes he imagines, among them the A-6M fighter, and meets Naoko Satomi (Miori Takimoto) along the way. His gift for designing a graceful airplane is also the thing the war will put to use, and that is the price he has to carry.
