The Winter War

“They held back the Russian Juggernaut in a frozen Hell!”

Martti Hakala (Taneli Mäkelä) and his brother Paavo are Ostrobothnian farmers who want nothing more than to get back to their land, but in November 1939 the Soviet Union attacks Finland and the reservists are called up. Pekka Parikka, adapting Antti Tuuri's novel, follows their platoon from Kauhava onto the Karelian Isthmus. Martti carries the farm and the people left behind through every mile of the march.
