The Wise Guys

(1965)Directed by Robert Enrico128 minAdventure, Comedy, Drama

Hector Valentin (Bourvil) comes home to France from Canada with one aim, to get the small sawmill he has inherited running again. The place is run-down, the workers do as little as they can, and a bigger competitor is happy to use dirty tactics against him. Robert Enrico, adapting a José Giovanni novel, gives Bourvil and Lino Ventura's Laurent Dannecker the plain physical business of a working mill.
