The Woman in Green

Young women across London are turning up murdered, each with a single finger cut away. Scotland Yard puts it down to a madman, but Sherlock Holmes (Basil Rathbone) thinks someone is directing the killings, and Dr. Watson (Nigel Bruce) follows him into the case. Roy William Neill shoots the investigation in the shadowed, fog-heavy streets of the Universal Holmes series, and he keeps the story close to Holmes at work.
