The Woman Next Door

Bernard Coudray (Gérard Depardieu) is settled with his wife and young son in a provincial French town when a couple moves into the house next door. The new neighbor is Mathilde Bauchard (Fanny Ardant), a woman he once loved, and neither of them can pretend not to know the other. François Truffaut sets the two houses a short walk apart, and Bernard looks across at her windows.
