The Woman on the Beach

(1947)Directed by Jean Renoir71 minDrama
“Go ahead and say it...I'm no good!”

Scott Burnett (Robert Ryan), a Coast Guard officer haunted by what he saw at sea, rides his horse along the shore and meets Peggy Butler (Joan Bennett), who lives in a beach house with her husband Tod (Charles Bickford), a painter gone blind. Jean Renoir ties the two men to the same woman and the same stretch of coast. Scott wants Peggy, and Tod is the man he would have to take her from.
