The World Champion

Viktor Korchnoi (Konstantin Khabensky) left the USSR as a defector, and the only thing he wants now is to beat the man the Soviet system has made its champion. That man is Anatoly Karpov (Ivan Yankovsky), the reigning world title holder, and Alexey Sidorov sets the two across a chessboard under immense psychological pressure. For both of them the match is a fight over who they are and what they answer to, and the stakes run far past the title.
