The World Is Big and Salvation Lurks Around the Corner

Alex Georgiev (Carlo Ljubek) grows up in 1980s Bulgaria, a boy whose family flees across the border and ends up in a West German refugee camp. Years later, a car crash takes his memory, and his grandfather Bai Dan (Miki Manojlović) takes him back toward the places he cannot recall. Stephan Komandarev shoots the trip as a road movie adapted from Ilija Trojanow's autobiographical novel, and lets the two men do the talking.
