The Yards

“He's the target of the most merciless family in New York. His own.”

Leo Handler (Mark Wahlberg) comes home from prison wanting a clean job and a place in the family, and what's left of it. His aunt is now married to Frank Olchin (James Caan), a big contractor in the Queens rail yards, where the city's subway cars are repaired and the contracts are worth fighting over. James Gray shoots the yards and the Handler apartment in dim, grainy light, so the work and the dealing feel equally worn.
