The Year of Living Dangerously

“A love caught in the fire of revolution.”

Guy Hamilton (Mel Gibson), a young Australian reporter, lands in Jakarta in 1965 for his first overseas posting, with no contacts and a story nobody will give him. Billy Kwan (Linda Hunt), a small, watchful photographer, takes him in and opens doors across a city on the edge of a coup. Peter Weir follows Guy through the correspondents' circle, where he meets Jill Bryant (Sigourney Weaver), and he starts wanting more from Jakarta than a byline.
