Santa Claus (Mickey Rooney) has decided he is skipping the year. He feels forgotten by the children of the world, so he stays home and takes a vacation, and Mrs. Claus (Shirley Booth) sends two small elves, Jingle and Jangle, down to find out where the Christmas cheer went. Arthur Rankin Jr. and Jules Bass build it in stop-motion puppets and give Snow Miser and Heat Miser (Dick Shawn, George S. Irving) their own songs.
