The Young and the Damned

Pedro (Alfonso Mejía) is a boy in the slums of Mexico City whose mother (Estela Inda) has little time or warmth to give him. He drifts into a gang of juvenile delinquents led by Jaibo (Roberto Cobo), and their violence slowly wears down what decency he has left. Luis Buñuel shot the film on location among real shanties, and it shows that poverty does not simply happen to these children, it teaches them.
