The Young Lieutenant
A young officer from Le Havre volunteers for a posting in the Paris homicide bureau, and Antoine Derouère (Jalil Lespert) arrives knowing nobody and nothing of the work. He is put under Commandant Vaudieu (Nathalie Baye), a middle-aged detective with a hard-won reputation, and Xavier Beauvois follows their cases with almost documentary plainness. Vaudieu watches the new man learn the job, and she carries more than she lets anyone see.
