The Young Victoria

(2009)Directed by Jean-Marc Vallée105 min · PGDrama, History, Romance
“Love rules all.”

Everyone around the teenage Victoria (Emily Blunt) seems to want a signature from her, and the king is not yet dead. Her mother, the Duchess of Kent (Miranda Richardson), presses her to sign a regency order, while her Belgian uncle quietly arranges for Prince Albert (Rupert Friend) to be sent her way. Jean-Marc Vallée keeps her small in the frame, a girl in a heavy gown, with Lord Melbourne (Paul Bettany) and the court waiting around her.
