The Zone of Interest

“The life we enjoy.”

The camp is always there just past the garden wall, and the film never shows it. Rudolf Höss (Christian Friedel), commandant of Auschwitz, and his wife Hedwig (Sandra Hüller) are building a dream life for their children in a house beside it. Jonathan Glazer keeps the family at its routines, and the question hanging over every one is how long a household can stay this comfortable.
