The Zookeeper's Wife

“They gave all they had to save all they could”

Warsaw in 1939 is where Jan Żabiński (Johan Heldenbergh) and his wife Antonina (Jessica Chastain) run the city zoo, and the German invasion arrives at their gates. Lutz Heck (Daniel Brühl), a Nazi zoologist, takes an interest in the animals, while the couple begin hiding Jewish neighbors on the grounds. Niki Caro films the household at close range, with children, animals and strangers all living under one roof.
