Their Finest

“In the fight for freedom everyone played a part.”

Catrin Cole (Gemma Arterton) is hired during the Blitz to write women's dialogue for a Ministry of Information film meant to lift the country's spirits. Lone Scherfig follows her as she works up the true story of two sisters who took a boat to rescue wounded soldiers, alongside the screenwriter Tom Buckley (Sam Claflin). Bombs keep falling on London while they write, and the film has to be finished before the people it is meant to comfort lose heart.
