Sreekrishnan Thampuran (Nedumudi Venu) has fallen for a woman and tries hard to win her, not knowing his best friend Manikyan (Mohanlal) loves her too. She is Karthumbi (Shobana), and she keeps turning Sreekrishnan away. Priyadarshan stages the quarrel that follows between the two friends as a loud, affectionate fight, where the strongest tie in the story is the one the men share.
