There Was a Crooked Man...

(1970)Directed by Joseph L. Mankiewicz123 min · RWestern
“Of All the Crooked Men in All the Crooked West One of Them Was the Best!”

Paris Pitman, Jr. (Kirk Douglas) is a smiling, ruthless thief who has stashed his loot somewhere and wants out of the Arizona prison where he has just landed. He starts working the men in his cell, Dudley Whinner (Hume Cronyn) and Floyd Moon (Warren Oates) among them, with the promise of a share. Joseph L. Mankiewicz made his only western here, with Woodward W. Lopeman (Henry Fonda) as the new warden, and Pitman keeps on grinning and bargaining.
