Thermae Romae

Lucius (Hiroshi Abe), a bath architect in ancient Rome, is out of work and out of ideas, until a drain in the water pulls him through time into Japan in 2012. There he finds hot spring tubs and wooden buckets, and meets the manga artist Mami (Aya Ueto), who watches him with curiosity. Hideki Takeuchi stages the Romans as a cast of broad, bathing-robed figures, keeping the mood easy and unhurried.
