“No picture in 1940 will have bigger thrills!”

What keeps two brothers behind the wheel of a single secondhand truck, hauling night after night while distributors, rivals and loan collectors pick at them from every side? Joe Fabrini (George Raft) and his brother Paul (Humphrey Bogart) run their small independent outfit as wildcat drivers, with Cassie Hartley (Ann Sheridan) and Lana Carlsen (Ida Lupino) drawn into their orbit. Raoul Walsh keeps the picture moving at the speed of the road.
